What is a Bird of Prey?
Birds of Prey are carnivorous (meat eaters), and hunt other animals for
food. They are the only birds that kill their prey with their feet.
How are they different from other birds?
1. They all have very sharp, hooked beaks and
2. They all have very powerful talons (feet and toes). Birds of
prey feet are not called claws. Cats have claws and birds of prey have
talons.
We can break known birds of prey that we have here in the UK into two
groups. These groups are:
1. The Raptors
2. The Owl
